twin effects
I thought my eyes were playing a joke on me but I was darn sure these were the same two officers on duty that morning. And now I’m back again at the police station in the afternoon. For an altogether different matter. How interesting can my life be?
Last year my brother’s car was stolen in my care. The morning of the eventful day, I had also thought that my eyes played a trick on me. But no matter how hard I rubbed my eyes and blinked, the car was still missing. Eventually I accepted that there’s nothing wrong with my eyes. So I went to make a police report. After a week or so, the officer in charge of the case informed me that the car has been found. Long story cut short, I recovered the car after filling in the standard forms as procedure requires.
About 2 weeks ago my went to renew the road-tax for the car, and–you have guessed correctly but no prize for you–he was informed that the car in case is blacklisted for reason that it’s (still) reported as stolen. So I haulled myself drudgingly back to the police station with a copy of the earlier report in hand. Thank God the officer was in. I thought I’ll be spending an hour or two at his office before being told to come back the next day. He replaced some photos and did some changes to his room. But since I’m there regarding the road-tax matter, maybe I shouldn’t bore you with the details about his room. OK, he’ll try to search through his records. No such record. Sure you returned the release document to me? It’s not here. Let me check the database. The car’s blacklisted alright. Can’t get it corrected without the papers. Will need to make a new report it seems…
Back with the new report. Oh, where is he now? Ring ring. Just wait for a while. Will be there in a jiffy. Should I ring again? Oh, here he comes. OK, will wire HQ with this new report but will take another 4-5 days before the data can be cleared. Why so long? [deleted] Call me next week–to confirm again. I left the station hoping my brother has more patience than me.
I was late to open up DropZone but it turned out that I have to close it earlier than usual. Sometime later that day an intruder entered DZ and ran away with my laptop. How exciting. I hope he won’t mind waiting for Windows 2000 to boot up on Pentium III 128MB RAM with Symantec and ZoneAlarm running in the background. I hope he has an extra adaptor. Anyway, an hour later I found myself staring dumbly at the same two police officers on duty that morning when I went to make a new report. I wonder if they recognized me.
It has been an unusual day for me to say the least. During the two visits, I heard someone reporting about a runaway maid, I read a police report of bogus police officers extorting from foreign workers and got beaten up badly in the end, I had a conversation with an elderly man who was there to make a report against loan-sharks who threatened his and his family after one of his sons couldn’t pay up and went into hiding. Not sure for what reason, I also made a mental note that this particular police station house several outstanding bowlers, judging from the bowling trophies on display.
What a strange day I had.

ouh… so sorry to hear what happened. =( looks like you’re more happening than i am…
